Orthodontic treatment for both adults and children is provided at Northern Beaches Family Dental by our specialist orthodontist, Dr Matthew Foo. You do not need a referral from a dentist to see an orthodontist.
What is Orthodontic Treatment?
The goal of orthodontic treatment is a good bite, which means straight teeth that sit well with the teeth in the opposite jaw. A good bite makes it easier to bite, chew and speak. This can enhance your dental and overall health, and may also improve your self-esteem.
At your initial consultation, Dr Foo will will analyse your mouth and jaws. He will then formulate a treatment plan, set goals and recommend the best way for you to achieve those goals, including the type of appliance needed to reach these desired results.
Orthodontic treatment can be a smart investment in your dental, physical and emotional well-being. At Northern Beaches Family Dental, we believe that straight teeth provide confidence and improved self-esteem, in addition to an improved ability to clean and maintain your teeth, so we offer payment plans for all orthodontic treatment. Please feel free to discuss this option with our team.
Invisalign is the virtually invisible way to straighten your teeth and improve your smile without the need for fixed braces. The Invisalign system uses a series of clear, removable aligners to move your teeth over time.
Conventional braces are an effective way to get good results. They come in various designs, however in all designs the brackets (individual attachments fixed to the outer surfaces of the teeth) work in combination with an archwire to move the teeth. The conventional bracket is made of stainless steel and may be plain, or your choice of a variety of colours
Aesthetic tooth-coloured or clear brackets may also be used, which minimise the appearance of the braces.
Lingual braces are similar to conventional and clear braces, but are fixed to the inside surfaces of your teeth rather than the outside.
